advocacy

Sometimes things may go wrong and a school requests a meeting. The advocate service is designed to help mediate by addressing the imbalance and attending the professional meetings with you.

Unfortunately school life is frequently not plain sailing. Often when the children are small, parents may have the luxury of choosing their child’s school. (Although, let's be honest, we all know they are vetting us too).

Sometimes however things can get difficult, and we can be invited into school for a meeting. These meetings are frequently heavily weighted by professionals ranging from the head teacher, form tutor, head of special needs, local education psychologists to name but a few. The people under represented can be the families and the person often with the smallest or no voice may well be the child.

This service is to even up the balance. I will come with you into your meeting as an advocate and professional voice to represent your family and your child. My neutrality allows me to ask probing questions that are frequently difficult to approach. My understanding of the school system and its protocols equips me with insider knowledge that hopefully will enable healthy solutions to be found.

Let’s stop talking about our children and start talking with them.
