Practice Development Support programme

Amanda Bueno's practice development support programme provides regular reflective practice for nurseries. Amanda's work aligns with Ofsted and Health Education England (HEE) by providing preventative, reflective support for early-years staff and leaders that strengthens supervision, workforce wellbeing and safeguarding before difficulties arise.

Regular reflective practice with Amanda positions individuals, context and relationships at the heart of the work.

Through collaborative and relational dialogue with individuals and groups, Amanda can help your nursery staff explore and discover the fundamental roots of issues and promote positive change.

About Amanda

Amanda Bueno de Mesquita is a UKCP-registered systemic psychotherapist and qualified systemic supervisor, with extensive experience in early years settings, workforce wellbeing and reflective practice.

She previously ran an Ofsted-rated Outstanding nursery, giving her a practical, lived understanding of the emotional, relational and leadership pressures faced by early years staff and managers. Her work is rooted in prevention — supporting adults early, before stress, anxiety and overload escalate into safeguarding concerns, burnout or referrals to specialist services.

Amanda’s approach is non-diagnostic and non-medicalised. This work is not therapy or treatment; it is reflective, relational support that strengthens thinking, leadership and emotional containment.

Her guiding principle is simple: communication prevents medication.

She is concerned by the increasing tendency to pathologise distress. The World Health Organization has warned that the medicalisation of normal responses to trauma and adversity is a global humanitarian concern, particularly when social and relational problems are treated primarily through diagnosis and medication rather than understandingand support.

Amanda’s work focuses on strengthening communication, reflection and relational capacity around children — so difficulties are held early, ethically and humanely.
